The Scene
With its handsome dining room, quaint sidewalk patio and social rooftop, Fiore offers more seating than any other restaurant in the North End. A typical combination of locals and tourists fill the dining areas, all of which are patrolled by accommodating waiters. The patio yields fantastic views of the endless stream of Hanover Street foot traffic. A rather limited wine list contains some good bargains.
The Food
Classic Italian cuisine is dished out with much care and attention to detail. The kitchen's homemade pastas and chicken, fish, and veal dishes distract many a diner from the view. Most patrons opt for favorites like antipasto, lasagna, gnocchi and chicken Parmesan. Pollo alla Fiore (chicken topped with eggplant and mozzarella, then baked) is surprisingly moist and flavorful. Seasonal specials highlight local fish catches. The usual dessert suspects--cappuccino and tiramisu--round out most meals.

Insider Tips
ParkingWith the North End's storied lack of parking spots, patrons should take advantage of Fiore's valet service or take the T.
The ExtrasFamiliar Italian favorites and the North End's only rooftop deck offer the perfect backdrop for lighting up, as smoking is permitted.

One of the apparenlty very few restaurants in Boston that have decided to compromise the above average food with poor atmosphere. 4 of us ate during the rust hour on a recent Saturday and found the service to be adequate but the atmosphere to be sophomoric. Fiore needs to decide if their roof is a bar or a dining area. It cannot be both as long as they allow both cigarette and pipe smoking. It would have helped if our meals had been well above average but they were not. Fiore is efficiently run including pushing the bill on you at the end of the meal to clear the table for the next seating. We may return for a drink but the food at other neighboring restaurants is free of tobacco smoke and generally better.
Pros: Attentive wait staff
Cons: Smoking

We went recently for a crowd of 8 and were seated upstairs which was nice in the beginning. The waiter was very slow to get drink orders and we ordered 2 apps of calamari and mozzarella and tomato. Needless to say we needed another 2 calamari apps which were tiny! Overpriced for the quantity. The food was average at best so I would not recommend this place when there are so many other places in the N. End that are really good and have human size portions. Too pricy for this level of dining and quality of food.
